Meet Sunstone Realty Advisors

Sunstone Realty Advisors was started in 2002 by Steve Evans and Darren Latoski. The firm runs out of North Vancouver at 50 Fell Avenue and invests in revenue-producing real estate across major Canadian markets and the U.S. Sunbelt.

Across its Canadian funds, Sunstone has acquired 58 properties worth more than $1 billion. Its U.S. funds added 12 properties worth more than $288 million USD. The firm describes its approach as opportunistic acquisition plus value-added management — buying assets it can improve through renovation, better operations, or refinancing.

Steve Evans is President, Director, and CEO. He co-founded three publicly traded REITs alongside Sunstone: Pure Multi-Family REIT LP, which went public in 2012 and sold to Atlanta-based Cortland Group for $1.6 billion in 2019; Pure Industrial Real Estate Trust (PIRET), sold for $3.8 billion in 2018; and American Hotel Income Properties REIT LP. Pure Multi-Family owned 22 apartment communities with over 7,000 units in Texas and Arizona at the time of its sale.

Co-founder Darren Latoski died in September 2013 at age 44. Steve Evans continues to lead the firm with Sunstone’s senior executive team.
