Meet Aplin Martin Consultants

Aplin & Martin Consultants Ltd. has worked on land development and public-works projects since 1968. The firm keeps civil engineers, land surveyors, urban planners, architects, and biologists on the same staff, so a project can move from rezoning and survey through servicing design without changing consultants.

The head office is in North Surrey. The firm runs nine offices total: Surrey (main), a second Surrey Central office, Vancouver, Kelowna, Nanaimo, Calgary, Edmonton, Oakville, and Ottawa. Across those offices it employs roughly 270 people.

The civil side handles roadways, sanitary and storm sewers, watermains, site grading, earthworks balancing, stormwater management, and erosion and sediment control. On the land-development side the work covers subdivisions, townhouses, high-rises, and master-planned communities, plus the municipal approval steps each of those needs.

For a small infill multiplex, the value is that the survey, the planning advice, and the servicing design all sit in one firm. That matters most when a lot needs a new service connection, a lot consolidation, or a stormwater plan to satisfy the city before a permit issues.

Why work with Aplin Martin

01

Survey and engineering in one firm

Aplin Martin runs its own land-surveying group (ABCLS) alongside its civil engineers. For a multiplex that needs a legal survey, a lot consolidation, or a strata/airspace subdivision, you are not coordinating between two separate companies.

02

Municipal servicing and approvals

The civil team designs the sewer, watermain, grading, and stormwater work that cities require before they release a building permit, and walks those designs through the municipal approval process.

03

In-house planning

The firm employs urban planners (PIBC), so rezoning and development-permit strategy can be handled by the same firm doing the engineering, which keeps the approval path consistent.

Frequently asked questions

Does Aplin Martin do land surveying as well as civil engineering?
Yes. The firm keeps land surveyors on staff alongside its civil engineers, so survey work and servicing design can be handled together rather than split between two companies.
Where does Aplin Martin work?
The firm has nine offices across BC, Alberta, and Ontario. In BC it operates from Surrey (head office), Vancouver, Kelowna, and Nanaimo, which covers Metro Vancouver, the Okanagan, and Vancouver Island.
Is a firm this size a fit for a single multiplex lot?
Aplin Martin is a roughly 270-person firm that works on everything from subdivisions to master-planned communities. For a small infill multiplex you would work with its civil and survey teams on the specific items a city requires, such as service connections, grading, and stormwater.
